In the Movies

Hey Gamers and Collectors everywhere,

Anyone else remember the horrible mistake that was the Super Mario Bros movie? Well I do, They did everything wrong, Bob-ombs and Princess Daisy and Yoshi, EVERYTHING. Nintendo since it's release in 1993 has become rather against making more video game themed films using their characters. They did however allow some of their characters (including Mario, DK and Duckhunt) in the movie PIXELS which came out to theaters this year. And a little while back they allowed a couple of their properties to be used in Wreck it Ralph So maybe this new involvement has made them rethink their standing in the film business and try and get back into the industry. According to Fortune, Nintendo's coming back to film will be overseen by the man who mad Mario, Mr. Miyamoto. This all makes me wonder about the previous rumors about Mario getting a new film, if overseen by Miyamoto it should be awesomtacular.

“We’ve had, over the years, a number of people who have come to us and said ‘Why don’t we make a movie together—or we make a movie and you make a game and we’ll release them at the same time?’,” (Miyamoto told Fortune at this year’s E3). “Because games and movies seem like similar mediums, people’s natural expectation is we want to take our games and turn them into movies. … I’ve always felt video games, being an interactive medium, and movies, being a passive medium, mean the two are quite different.” (He made a point to clarify that the company may be going into the industry still, as times change and the company looks to broaden its focus, Nintendo is open to discussions.)“As we look more broadly at what is Nintendo’s role as an entertainment company, we’re starting to think more and more about how movies can fit in with that—and we’ll potentially be looking at things like movies in the future,” ~Miyamoto's statement to Fortune Magazine
