Suing Nintendo

Hey Gamers and Collectors everywhere,

OK, come on!! Nintendo's a big name in the video game industry, why are people still trying to sue them, don't they realize that Nintendo will always win the cases made against them!? They're Nintendo, they've got the money and the layers to win any case made against them.

Nintendo Wins Patent Case Filed Against Nintendo 3DS and Other Hand-Held Systems

Nintendo Continues to Defend its Innovations Against Patent Lawsuits

REDMOND, Wash., July 21, 2015 – On July 17, 2015, Nintendo won a patent case in federal court in Oakland, California. Judge Saundra Armstrong found that eight of Nintendo’s popular hand-held systems, including the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance systems, do not infringe a patent asserted against those products by Quintal Research Group, Inc. Judge Armstrong therefore dismissed the case. Quintal is a patent-assertion company run by the named inventor of the asserted patent, who is also a patent lawyer.~Nintendo PR

This case is pretty ridiculous, not just in MY opinion or anything like that, this really is truly ridiculous!! This company claimed that the Game Boy Advanced consoles, 3DS consoles and DS-DSi consoles all infringed on their patents. What strikes me as odd is really how they think they can claim the Game boy Advanced consoles infringe on their patents, the original GBA console was released in 2001 in Japan, that makes it fourteen years old. So for fourteen years they had never heard of a Game Boy Advanced console yet when they discovered it they found it infringed on their patent.
  1. Patent infringement is the commission of a prohibited act with respect to a patented invention without permission from the patent holder. Permission may typically be granted in the form of a license.~Google's definition
So the company "Quintal Research Group, Inc" basically claimed that they own the rights to all of these consoles, including the newer consoles in the 3DS family line. If you ask me, they wern't really thinking, going up against Nintendo. Now they've lost the case and Nintendo has beaten them, they don't gain a thing from all of this.
