I cannot personally confirm anything at this time, but I guess the NX may not have that region locking thing everybody hates. The thing that prevents people in NA to buy the N3DS from Japan and enjoying it. The region lock feature prevents Gamers from buying a console from another region and playing it without issues. If the NX doesn't have this feature, then we'll be able to purchase the console from Japan and get games from North America, downloading content from the USA and play the console without any problems. This doesn't appear to be true, because Iwata himself says that would present various issues:
"However, regarding NX, given the customer feedback and proposals from the market, while nothing has been decided yet, we're currently investigating internally what problems there would be in releasing it. You can think of that as the current situation. I understand your desire, so I'd like to look at it optimistically going forward. "Removing region-locking from current game machines presents various issues, so we don't consider that to be very realistic,"~ IwataAlthough he didn't say it would happen, he did say something about being optimistic or something like that, regarding the removal of the region lock.
